Alla Proof and Tralles Hydrometer

This Alla Proof and Tralles Hydrometer is a professional grade hydrometer that has a scale that goes to 200 proof. It is used to calculate proof in higher alcoholic beverages as it is not accurate for lower alcohol products like beer or wine. Similar in use to a brewing hydrometer, but assumes no sugar is in the solution. You must float in a sample to obtain a reading. This measuring tool is also sometimes referred to as an alcometer or alcoholmeter.

This is a glass, premium grade Proof and Tralles Hydrometer from Alla out of France for distilled alcohol. This is used by thousands of distillers across the world and is often considered one of the best hydrometers on the market. The 0 to 200 percent scale is Proof of Spirit scale; the 0 to 100 scale is for percent of alcohol by volume, Tralles.

Please note this hydrometer does not work for taking readings on beer or wine. If your intent is to measure the gravity (sugar density) in beer and wine, you need a specific beer and wine hydrometer sold here.
